Sports Funding 2019/20 Spending Plan

This year we received £16880 (September 2019 – August 2020)

At High Beech C of E Primary School, we are committed to the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity and helping them to lead healthy active lives . We believe that a positive experience in early childhood will build a lifetime habit of participation.

We achieved the Silver School Games Mark for 2018-19 .

How the money will be spent

Impact on PE and sport participation and attainment

Membership of local sports partnership

To ensure all pupils reach their full potential in a range of skills and games . The sports coaches will support all teachers in their PE lessons and take groups to ensure full participation at all times.

To contribute towards swimming pool hire and instructors

As swimming is a life skill and an important part of the curriculum, we allow all children from year 1 – 6 to participate in high quality swimming lessons throughout the year .

Transport to local sports partnership events

Since we have a limited site – children can participate in local competitions, festivals and sports day at the local secondary school .

All children in the school will take part in yoga sessions with a qualified yoga teacher . This will develop their co-ordination, balance and core skills. This also links with the mental health section of our School Development Plan.

Cycling – bikability

We identified a need to ensure that the children in years 5 and 6 are safer when cycling to school with the long term plan of cycling more often . This links to our Healthy Schools ethos. The bikeability course will improve their cycling skills and make them more aware of the road safety.

Maintenance of children’s bikes

The school has a set of 15 mountain bikes that are used for mountain biking sessions . These require annual servicing. All children  in years 5 and 6 participate.

Playleaders are used to encourage other children to become more activate . To do this, more lunchtime equipment is required.

Development of school site

Our school site is limited in size and also has steep slopes in some areas . Our aim is to develop our site so that we can offer the daily mile to children and also install some outdoor gym equipment to develop their co-ordination and core strength.

This will also lead to the children having a more active playtimes and lunchtimes.

How will this be sustainable?

  • We buy into our local SSCO, allowing us to access many competitions and events. This is sustainable to 2020 at the very minimum.
